SPIRIT OF PLACE

Exploring Our Relationship to the Land

A portion of proceeds from the exhibit will be donated to Los Angeles area wildfire relief efforts.

Spirit of Place showcases the powerful and evocative works of contemporary Native American artists who explore their deep connection to the land, their reciprocal relationship with it and its profound influence on their cultural identities. Through a diverse range of mediums, these artists express their ancestral ties, spiritual reverence, and the enduring impact of historical and ongoing environmental practices.

The work of these artists serves as a testament to the excellence, resilience and enduring spirit of Indigenous communities, while also challenging viewers to confront the complex legacy of land use and its lasting consequences. With poignant imagery, symbolic iconography, and innovative techniques, these artists share their narratives, honor their ancestors, and offer a powerful call for cultural and environmental discourse.
